50 Tons Electric Mold Rail Transer Cart with Turntable
Production Challenges
In modern large-scale stamping and injection molding workshops, the long-span transfer of heavy molds generally faces space constraints and difficulties in reversing direction. One automotive parts manufacturing plant had molds weighing 45 tons, and the workshop layout was complex.
Traditional cranes offer limited coverage and pose high safety risks, while conventional rail transfer carts cannot achieve 90-degree right-angle reversals in narrow passageways; simultaneously, the high frequency of mold docking places stringent requirements on running time and docking accuracy.

Solution
To meet the workshop's flexible production needs, Newld tailored a combination solution of a 50 tons electric mold rail transfer cart and a ground mounted turntable:
- Vehicle and Specifications: The transfer cart's main dimensions are 3000x2000x500 mm, employing a high-rigidity box-girder frame and a flat platform, equipped with a 3000mm diameter (1400mm high) ground-mounted turntable.
- Precise Power Supply and Steering: Utilizing continuous low-voltage rail power supply, coupled with insulated wheels, carbon brushes, and conductive posts, it eliminates the constraints of cables and limited battery life. After the flatcar enters the turntable, the turntable rotates precisely, achieving seamless rail connection.
- Intelligent Safety Protection: Upgraded with a laser sensor obstacle avoidance device and shock-absorbing structure, combined with dual-mode wireless/wired remote control, an emergency stop button, and audible and visual warning lights, ensuring inherent safety under heavy load conditions.

Advantages
- Unrestricted Efficiency: Direct rail power supply enables 24/7 high-frequency operation, increasing work efficiency by 40%.
- Flexible Limitation Avoidance: Combined with a ground-mounted turntable, it achieves efficient 90/180-degree in-situ reversals, significantly saving workshop aisle space.
- Heavy Load Stability: The box girder frame boasts excellent bending and torsional resistance, precisely connecting to the production line and ensuring zero-error connection of heavy-duty molds.
Applications
In actual operation, the mold rail transfer cart is responsible for transferring large molds between different production lines. The flatcar smoothly travels along the track to the center of the embedded turntable, which automatically rotates to change direction and locks onto the track. Workers can then control the flatcar from a safe distance via wireless remote control, allowing it to smoothly enter the target workstation and seamlessly connect with the mold rack.
